A major advantage of MBR technology is that it is sometimes possible to continue to use existing wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) facilities whilst achieving significant increases in treatment capacity ie. no new tankage, or change to an existing site footprint. On constrained brownfield sites, this is an attractive means of upgrade.

恩，楼上翻译的都不错， footprint是指现在场地上存留的建筑物，英语翻译是：an item's footprint is the surface area it occupies. constrained brownfield sites是紧缺的灰色地带。灰色地带的意思就是原来有建筑或者用过的土地。
